The Irsyad model continues to strengthen its brand in the region. Pesantren Sabilil Muttaqin hopes to modernize its network of pesantren with the Irsyad system.
The auspicious event to seal this partnership took place on 25th August 2008 at JW Marriot, Surabaya and is witnessed by Bapak Muhammad Maftuh Basyuni, Minister of Religious Affairs, Indonesia, Bapak Dr Ir Muhammad Nuh, Minister of Communications and Information, Indonesia, and Dr Yaacob Ibrahim (Minister of the Environment and Water Resources and Minister in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Singapore).
Also present were H.E. Ashok Mirpuri, Singapore’s Ambassador to Indonesia and Hj Alami Musa, President Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura.
The MOU signing between Madrasah Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiah and Pesantren Sabilil Muttaqin will see the setup of Islamic International School (PSM) in Takeran, Magetan. This MOU will see Madrasah Al-Irsyad assisting PSM in :
– Capacity Building of teachers and staff
– Curriculum upgrading
– Transfer of Education Best practices
– Strengthening of School Management System
Apart from this new school in Magetan, another new school that will follow the same Irsyad model will also be built very soon in near-by Kediri. Its founder, Pak Dahlan Iskan, is committed towards expanding the network of such schools to Madiun and Surabaya.
Pak Dahlan Iskan further added, “We want to prepare our young for the new vibrant economy in Indonesia which is growing rapidly. Through this partnership, we hope that our students will contribute and thrive in the new economy, while continue to retain their values through the pesantren religious tradition.”
